![]() I hope this will help more people than just myself for future recordings with OBS :) It gives you complete freedom, but it does require digging in the ffmpeg docs for complex stuff. I love this, cause combined with the ability to specify command-line options from within the gui, you can awlays stay current by just updating the ffmpeg.įor simple de/remuxing, you select COPY-STREAM for video and audio codec at the bottom, like so: (it worked like a charm for my mkv to mov remuxing test).įor more complex stuff, like for example when the source file contains multiple tracks, you can use the -map option of ffmpeg in that "Custom input options" field. ![]() However, it lets you have ffmpeg installed, and then simply set the path of the ffmpeg binary to SmartFFmpeg's options. In the meantime, I found another ffmpeg front-end, called: SmartFFmepg. ![]() Don't think anyone made a scaler or GPU with say a hardware accelerated lanczos3 scaling, which is still poor but it's fast and miles better than the current bilinear and bicubic that are being used.Click to expand.I don't think handbreak can de/remux at all (even if it can, which is not the case as far as I can tell, it seems to only support mkv and mp4 files).įor a current all-in-one converter, de/muxer, Xmedia Recode looks pretty cool (just tried it, it successfully remuxed h264/pcm mkv to mov). Upscaling with a good quality does take some serious performance. Sometimes it works well and stays sharp, sometimes it does not, depends on implementation by developers. On top of it all some games do offer scaling options themselves, be it applied to shader rendering resolution or a pure whole image scaling. I don't see a problem running 4k with an RTX 2070, sure it won't run 144fps but it will have no problem with the majority of 4k monitors that can do 60Hz only anyway. Modern GPUs are plenty powerful but are not always used correctly be it by developers on PC or by users setting crazy quality settings. You could render 8k but do effects only in 1080p. Why do consoles look so good with so little? Fixed hardware and more work put into optimizing the engine to run well on this poor hardware, so they use a lot of techniques that PC devs don't bother with or don't give users option to adjust. And then there is the whole temporal reconstruction. On top of that a well made modern game should use adaptive rendering techniques where the shader load is automatically adjusted to reach a target performance, you can alter shader rendering resolution for each shader, or the new APIs and GPUs also provide a "per surface" quality. Many games have minimal visual quality improvement beyond medium settings but the performance starts dropping significantly. This didn't use to be a huge problem but nowadays it is as people go on YouTube and see these rich people running 2080Ti ultra so damn often, meanwhile they have a 1070 and try to use the same settings without understanding one bit what each settings does and what is it's performance and visual impact. But no people put it all on max and then wonder why they need a 2080Ti to run even 1440p. There are also effects that are best turned off entirely to improve image quality = less blur and better performance. These high-ultra settings in some games are so bad that dropping just 1 or 2 of these to medium can increase GPU performance 2x and remove the stupid bottleneck from some effect that barely has any visual impact. ![]() 100fps and dips to 70's fps is unacceptable for me.Ĭlick to expand.4k is fine, the problem is many people are dumb and set everything to ultra when in fact those settings were never meant by developer to be able to run average 144 fps at 2160p on a GTX 1080 or even an RX 2080Ti. I guess I have to buy a 3080Ti in June then the Acer monitor will shine bright with 144fps which Im just rumoring and speculating. I want my 4k on the desktop but 1440p with all AA methods and games set to max is all I desire. Sux, Im buying the Acer 43" 4k 144hz and I will play 1440p on that I just wouldn't go to 4k even with a 3080Ti as I don't need it. I didn't shell out all that money for my video card to reduce graphics ya know. I rather have less frames per second and have everything maxed out. Im not giving up sexyness for more frames. and btw I set all my games to max ultra settings. If I had a 2080Ti then maybe I can get away with 4k resolution. If I have nVidia panel everything set to on all AA methods and everything on max, compared to stock settings after installing drivers did not affect my FPS one bit so AA is free. Hey dude, thank you much for your feedback on this.
