![]() Now, I can boot into the OS with CSM disabled no problem. I figure out that my BIOS Mode was set to Legacy instead of UEFI, so I converted my OS Samsung drive to GPT without data loss. It should be similar to the following, with an EFI partition present: You can detect if you are using UEFI boot type by running the Windows disk management console and look at the partition scheme for your Samsung SSD. I don't think this is a problem for you, and you should still be able to use the Seagate and WD HD for data storage. If you have UEFI booting, the Seagate and WD HD would not show up in the Boot Priority list because there isn't a Windows Boot Manager installed on them. Windows DVD install disk) will show up in the Boot Priority List. Samsung SSD containing the partition EFI/BOOT/bootfwmg.efi) or can have the boot manager (e.g. It could be that your boot type is UEFI, and therefore only devices that have the UEFI Windows Boot manager (i.e. The Seagate and WD HD and not considered to be boot devices. It appears that the BIOS considers only your Samsung SSD and optical disc drive to be bootable devices. Launch CSM was enabled as well." Enabling Legacy OPROM means that older devices can be used for booting, and this requires CSM enabled: "Compatibility Support Module" allows for older boot devices. I see that you have an older motherboard with Z97 chipset, and you said "Boot Device Control was set to UEFI and Legacy OPROM. Only my OS SSD and my optical drive display in the Boot Priority. I did tried my laptop hard drive to see if my 2 hard disk drives are dead, and the result is the same as before. But if I try all my 4 drives at the same time, only 2 will display which are my OS SSD and my optical DVD/CD drive. The thing is if I try one drive at a time, it will displays it in the Boot Priority. Next Boot after AC Power Loss > Fast Boot I don't think my HDD is dead because Windows are able to detect my two hard disk drives. If I try to power on individual drive, the motherboard will display it in the Boot Priority, but if I try to power on all my 4 drives, only 2 drives will display in Boot Priority. I don't know what's going on and how to fix it. My two hard disk drives have drive letter. Boot Device Control was set to UEFI and Legacy OPROM. My 2 other hard disk drives were not showed up in the boot priority, but it does showed up in boot menu, SATA Information on the EZ Mode tab, Boot Override tab in the Advanced Mode, and Hard Drive BBS Priorities. Out of the 4 drives, only 2 showed in Boot Priority which are my OS SSD and my optical drive. I have 4 drives that are connected to the motherboard top 4 SATA ports. The product retails for $25 in the App Store and a non-Pro version is available for $5 – however, note that it lacks many features of the Pro version that make it such a useful tool. The link to the App Store has a variety of screenshots of the product if you want to check it out. However, the feature is still excellent and the tool remains a very powerful addition to our toolbox. It might be easier for beginners to learn to master this capability if an set of quick and easy tools were easily available without a bunch of menu navigation. The grammar definition could lend itself to a better toolbox in the GUI. I still need to practice a bit more with the grammar definition mechanisms, but I can see where this will grow the product’s usefulness rapidly. This is an easy to use, intuitive and powerful mechanism for reversing. The real power of the tool is in the creation of the “grammar files”. I really thought this would work, but could not seem to selections to “stick” so that I could add multiples. Additionally, I would really like it if you could get realtime updates, but with a mechanism for selecting multiple data elements and not just single strings. ![]() For one, I would like to see additional checksum mechanisms added and perhaps even an interface for creating your checksum scripts or equations. However, I do have a couple of things I would like to see as future features for this capability. This makes it pretty easy to figure out if different fields are included in the protocol’s checksum activities and leads to faster, cleaner reversing. This feature displays a wide variety of checksums for the data that is highlighted and updates the checksums in realtime. In my recent protocol work, this was a feature I used over and over again to identify various components of the data stream and figure out how each was encoded as a part of a bigger puzzle.Īnother feature we have come to love is the “Show Checksums” feature. This makes reversing simple encoding on text as easy pie and as quick as swatting a fly. This brings up a window in which the highlighted data is run through a bunch of encoding/decoding schemes and presented to you both as ASCII and as hex. My favorite feature of the tool is available by highlighting some piece of data and right clicking to bring up a menu, then selecting “compare code pages”. Recently, we have been doing quite a bit of protocol testing in the lab and this tool has proven itself again and again as invaluable. While this might sound basic, it is amazingly useful for performing reverse engineering of protocols and other deep-level analysis tasks of textual data. Namely, it lets you “lasso” different bits of text and highlight them in different colors. This tool is a hex editor with some very very useful features in the GUI. Synalyze It! Version 1.7 contains several new features and fixes to the grammar directory and toolbar. Used as a modeling tool, Synalyze It!
